This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Hire Man and Van has taken, and is continuing to take, to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place within our own operations or our supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to uphold and promote human rights and to act ethically in all aspects of our business.
Hire Man and Van adopts a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and all forms of exploitation. This commitment applies to every aspect of our activities, including our direct workforce, agency workers, contractors, and all suppliers and subcontractors who support our moving and logistics services.
We expect the same high standards from everyone we work with. Modern slavery is a criminal offence and a gross violation of fundamental human rights. Any breach of this policy will be treated as a serious matter and may result in termination of contracts or working relationships.
Hire Man and Van provides moving, transport, and related logistics services. Our supply chains include, but are not limited to, vehicle suppliers, fuel providers, equipment and packaging suppliers, temporary labour providers, premises and facility services, and professional advisory services.
We recognise that some sectors and geographies are at higher risk of modern slavery. We regularly consider where heightened risks may arise in our supply chains and focus enhanced due diligence in those areas.
Our approach to modern slavery is supported by a set of internal policies and procedures designed to promote ethical conduct. These include standards on recruitment, equal opportunity, anti-bribery and corruption, and health and safety. Together, they help to create an environment in which exploitation is less likely to occur and more likely to be identified if it does.
Management is responsible for ensuring that modern slavery risks are understood and addressed within their areas. All staff are expected to act with integrity and to report any concerns they may have in good faith.
We are committed to working only with suppliers who share our values and comply with all applicable labour and human rights laws. As part of our supplier onboarding and renewal processes, we seek to assess the risk of modern slavery within our supply chain and to evaluate the standards maintained by our partners.
Where appropriate, we may conduct supplier audits or request evidence of compliance, including copies of relevant policies, workforce practices, and training records. For higher-risk suppliers, we may carry out more detailed assessments and request corrective action plans where we identify gaps or concerns.
Failure to address identified issues may result in the suspension or termination of our relationship with a supplier.
We recognise that raising awareness is crucial in identifying and preventing modern slavery. We aim to provide appropriate guidance and information to managers and staff, particularly those involved in recruitment, procurement, and supplier management.
Training and communications focus on understanding what modern slavery is, recognising warning signs, and knowing how and where to report concerns safely and confidentially.
Hire Man and Van encourages all employees, workers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report any concerns about suspected modern slavery or unethical practices. Concerns can be raised through internal reporting channels or directly to management, without fear of retaliation or discrimination.
All reports will be treated seriously and reviewed promptly. Where appropriate, investigations will be undertaken, and steps will be taken to address and remedy any issues identified. We are committed to protecting the confidentiality of those who raise genuine concerns.
We aim to monitor the effectiveness of the steps we take to combat modern slavery by reviewing the outcomes of supplier assessments, audits, training activities, and reported concerns. Lessons learned from these reviews inform improvements to our policies and procedures.
Our goal is continual improvement in how we identify, assess, and manage modern slavery risks, both within our business and throughout our supply chains.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains current, effective, and aligned with legal requirements and best practice. The review considers changes in our business operations, supply chains, and risk profile, as well as relevant regulatory and industry developments.
The statement is approved by the leadership of Hire Man and Van, who retain overall responsibility for its implementation and for promoting a culture that rejects all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking.
